Gautam Jha works as a Patient Care Assistant.

Gautam Jha is basically from Bihar but has completed his studies from Mumbai, Maharashtra. In the beginning, he worked as a housekeeper in a hospital in Mumbai. Later, he got a job as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Compass India PVT Ltd. and was shifted to Bhuj. Coming from a different state, he had to face many problems like the language barrier, not able to pay rent, the pressure of finding a suitable job to overcome the financial crisis, etc. He wanted to advance in his career so he could support his family better. He was always ready to learn new things in his field that he could implement in his job.

During the mobilisation activities by the Adani Skill Development Centre, Bhuj team, Gautam came to know about the skill training provided under various courses. He grabbed this opportunity to enhance his skills and enrolled himself in the first batch of the General Duty Assistant training course.He was highly attentive in class which helped him to shine during assessments. His sincerity, coupled with digital literacy and basic English skills, has helped him to grow in his career. As a result, he got a job in GAIMS hospital as a Patient Care Assistant. Later, he was promoted to the post of an ICU-Nursing Brother.

His monthly income has reached from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 10,000 monthly in a short time. This job has improved the standard of living for him and his family. With continuing hard work and determination, he has become one of the most experienced Patient Care Assistants today. He is able to manage patients like any other nursing staff.
