Rekha Mahadik says,” I am thankful Saksham in helping me find myself again.”

Rekha Mahadik, a Std. 12 commerce passed student, decided to quit studies due to repeated failure in exams of FYBCom. She had lost all interest in studies and was sitting idle at home. Her father works as an AC repairing technician and earns only Rs. 15,000 per month. When her parents got information about the courses offered at the Saksham centre in Surat, they brought her to the centre for counselling and guidance. At the centre, she was provided with proper advice, and on the basis of her aptitude and interests, she was suggested to apply for the General Duty Assistant course.

After rigorous efforts by her family and our trainer, she started attending the course. She was also provided separate counselling daily. She completed the training and also served 21 days of OJT (On Job Training) at a hospital as a part of the training. By the end, she was so skilled that the hospital offered her a job for Rs. 6,000. She was in tears upon being offered the job as she had never believed in the possibility of being employed. Now, she is proud to support her father in earning a livelihood for the family. Rekha says, “I never imagined that I would be serving society using my hidden skills; I am feeling quite confident. I am thankful Saksham in helping me find myself again.”
