Sebri Devi grabbed the opportunity and won dignity.

Sebri Devi got married at the age of 18 years. She lives at Basantpur village along with her husband, two kids and her in-laws. Adani Skill Development Centre initiated the tailoring training program for rural women at Basantpur village in May 2017. Sebri Devi believed that life skills through this program will provide an opportunity to generate income for her family. First time in life she attended the training program. After 40 days time, Sebri Devi was able to independently stitch petticoat and blouse. She said, “I stitched petticoat for myself first time. Not only this, I do blouse and pant as well. The more I practice, the better I will perform. Each cloth that I stitch I earn money as well”. Sebri Devi has experience about life challenges and strategies to overcome those challenges too. The day she started earning on her own, she felt relieved and relaxed. This training program of tailoring has changed her life.

The mother of two, who does her household chores earns dignity and respect from her in-laws. The lady who was never consulted for decision making process is now being asked and involved also. She also joined Sadguru Mahila Mandal, a 3 years old SHG of her village and put herself into a position to pay the contribution money without fail. She was able to pay Rs 21 per week as contribution money from her earnings.

It was learnt that every individual have their own unique quality and strength. Getting a platform and space to exercise their talent and skills, every individual is capable. It requires handholding and capacity building and nothing is so late for anyone if one has desire to seek knowledge and skills.
